Beth Jacob Synagogue

Sukkot/Succos Fundraiser
Food Justice Tastes Great!

Happy Sukkot! It’s the Jewish celebration of the harvest, community, and the beauty and resilience of the natural world. During Sukkot, the land feeds us and we feed each other, while rededicating ourselves to caring for the land and promoting justice.

In honor of Sukkot, Beth Jacob members Sue and John Morris are selling wonderful international foods through their project, Just Food Hub, a partnership with Equal Exchange.

When you shop during the next two weeks, 25% of your purchases will support Beth Jacob Synagogue: our family programs, religious services, adult and youth learning, holiday celebrations, tzedakah, everything we do.

You can pick up your products at the synagogue by arrangement with Sue (sue@justfoodhub.us). In addition, free delivery is offered to Barre, East Montpelier, Marshfield, Montpelier, and Plainfield, or your purchases can be shipped elsewhere for an additional charge.

Here’s an example of the farmers you help support:

Marginalized Organic Producers’ Association (MOPA) is a network of over 800 small-scale farmers, about half of whom are women, in the Uva and Central regions of Sri Lanka. These farmers grow tea and spices and are committed to organic and biodynamic agriculture. MOPA helps small farmers stay on their land, provide livelihoods for their families, and maintain healthy and vibrant communities. Learn more about MOPA here: https://www.mopalk.org/

Thanks for supporting our synagogue and small-scale farmers around the world.

Just Food Hub

We are raising awareness in our local communities about real organic and fair-traded food, worker coops, and corporate consolidation in the food system. Our products include high-quality and affordable artisan food like coffee, chocolate, tea, cheese, and hot sauce from cooperative farms in the Global South and small US organic farms.

Just Food Hub’s mission is to offer community groups, like Beth Jacob, a regular fundraiser for their valuable work in our communities. We do this by selling these wonderful foods online and giving the profits to the community group. Beth Jacob receives 25% of all purchases when you click Beth Jacob at checkout. We offer free delivery of your purchases in 18 towns including Barre, East Montpelier, Marshfield, Montpelier, and Plainfield and can ship them elsewhere for a $10 charge.

Just Food Hub collaborates with Equal Exchange, a worker coop that develops a noncapitalist people-centered food system that brings food justice and integrity to the US family table. Equal Exchange endorses organic and sustainable farming practices and democratic and worker-owned farming cooperatives throughout the Global South, Palestine, and the United States.

In addition to helping you eat well and building strong local economies and community groups, we are working to address the climate crisis and food insecurity. Join us and be the change you want to see in the world.

Orders of $75 or more will come with a free natural cotton shopping bag.
