Oro Verde

Oro Verde Coop in Peru has 689 small farmers with an average farm size of 2.5 hectares
Founded in 1999, this group is the source for chocolate bars and minis, chocolate chips, and dark hot chocolate. More than two-thirds of Oro Verde members are from the Chanca Lamista indigenous group.

Higher prices benefit the whole community, providing scholarships for children of producers and women’s groups.

Oro Verde is currently working to  build up an elite tree nursery program, providing farmers with improved varieties for the future. Their reforestation project involves planting two million trees to help the coop achieve a zero-carbon footprint.
